You got the SPX for mod? :o Interesting...I would use your old Sphere TC for mod and the SPX for 13.5.

Fully dual purpose and excellently( suited for both stock and modified racing), the power profile 5-8 is specially for "Stock Spec" and( 1-4 profile is ideally suited to modified racing.) It will work for both thats why I got it :mrgreen:Man I could use a traxxas speed control and this car would still be too much to handle ...

Either way, I'm jealous :o The SPX is bitchin. And less weight than the Sphere TC.

Oh did I mention weight? Your running HOW MANY grams under?! And Greg too?!!!!!
(Hopefully see you guys next club race eh?)

Is there still interest in the mod class here at Camarillo?

I'm setting up a mod car now. I'd prefer to just jump to mod and stop chasing the endless technology war in the 17.5 class. I have a full Tekin setup in my RCGT car but I've decided to drop stock sedan and try my hand at mod instead, it's a much cheaper way to go fast. I'd prefer to focus on my driving skills and not worry about the latest hardware, turbo boost curves, monster batteries, etc.

So what's the feeling on this class? I don't see any posts since June '09.

Try the 13.5 super stock with a tekin first. Its the new MOD. The lap speeds are very close anyway .

Hey Dan,
You can always try the 13.5 with boost and yada yada in mod also. We are offering a Mod class at the on road regionals. I will be running a SP 5.5 that day.

That's pretty much what I saw last time I raced. The question is, will there be a MOD class or is it going to become a super stock (13.5) class full of Tekins etc.?

I think it's kinda funny that people want to spend $165 buying a Tekin to go the same speed as a $40-$80 5.5t or ??? mod motor with a standard ESC. Am I missing something here?

If the lap times are similar, and there aren't enough people to make a mod class, can I race my 5.5t in the "now mod" 13.5 class? I think we should do away with the super stock class and just run mod and let everybody choose what makes sense for them. Programmable timing ESCs have jacked up the whole class system.

For what it's worth, I do have a couple Tekins and love them, but the class lines are very blurry now.

For now I will run MOD and see how that goes as I just bought the 5.5t winding for my Ballistic motor. To run the 13.5/Tekin class I need to buy another winding/motor. The group I race with at other tracks all decided to just go with the 5.5t approach because it was the cheapest for all of us. Maybe later I will complete my motor turn collection with a 13.5 & 10.5 so I always have those options.

The challenge comes when you race at other tracks and try to setup up your car to work with different class structures & popularity. It's a key reason why I promote the idea just a MOD class which allows you to "run whacha brung".

I held out on the super stock class (13.5) because OC Circuit was running 10.5 for super stock (same as his 19T class) so I was caught in the middle. It seems like there are always constant arguments about what motor winding should be the standard for a class, I saw the same in SCT when they first got popular and I am seeing the same problem in F1 as people try to agree on a motor spec.

I'm just sharing my experiences and observations.
